Scholarships

Policy

It is the policy of the Northern California Chapter – HFMA to support the educational mission of the organization by providing scholarships to students pursing careers in healthcare finance and/or management as outlined below. It is the intent of the Chapter to award scholarships on a merit basis. There will be no limit on the number of scholarships awarded in any one fiscal year nor will there be a requirement that any scholarship be awarded during one fiscal year. Annual amount with be limited by board approved budget.

The successful recipient of the Student Intern Scholarship will receive an award of the lesser of a $1,000 annual scholarship or the cost of the specific course.

Procedure

The successful recipient is one who:

  1. Has demonstrated a desire to pursue a career in healthcare finance and/or management.
  2. Is currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program at a recognized college or university.
  3. Is willing to attend at least one HFMA Board Meeting during the fiscal year.
  4. Is willing to assist in at least one Chapter project during the fiscal year.
  5. Has submitted the attached application and all required materials prior to February 1st of the given year.
  6. After completion of course work, submits both a copy of the final grade (no less than a “B”) and a receipt for tuition to HFMA.
